New England Patriots Acquire Defensive End Kony Ealy
The executive vice president of Total Quality Engineering, Philip Calhoun previously served a variety of roles for Ford Motor Company at manufacturing plants throughout North America. A former semi-professional football player in Canada, Philip Calhoun counts the New England Patriots as one of his favorite National Football League (NFL) teams.
Despite winning the Super Bowl in February, the Patriots wasted little time in improving its roster for another championship run in 2017. Since the beginning of March, the team has acquired numerous high-profile players, including tight end Dwayne Allen, wide receiver Brandin Cooks, and cornerback Stephon Gilmore. One of the other prominent acquisitions was defensive end Kony Ealy, who the team received from the Carolina Panthers along with the Panthers’ third-round draft pick in exchange for the Patriots' second-round selection.
A former second-round draft pick himself, Ealy played three seasons with the Panthers and compiled 14 sacks and six forced fumbles in 47 regular-season games. The 25 year old had the best game of his career in the Panthers' Super Bowl 50 loss against the Denver Broncos, in which he recorded three sacks, a forced fumble, fumble recovery, and an interception.
